THE CENTENARY COLLECTION
Since 1922, every match on Wimbledon’s Centre Court has been photographed, amassing one of the richest image libraries in sporting history. To mark its centenary, Wimbledon partnered with Glorious, Aotearoa’s leading digital art marketplace, to curate an exhibition from this astonishing archive. Assembling a team of historians, archivists, designers, calligraphers and artists, The Centenary Collection was crafted from hundreds of thousands of images. Culminating in 10 masterpiece artworks, each showcasing an evolution of photographic technology through contact sheet-inspired layouts, and woven together with annotations in era-specific typography. Following a sell-out final, the collection sold out - generating over NZD $1 million in sales.
